It's Christmas!

Wow it's been a while since I've blogged I have been super busy getting ready for the festive season :)

My stall at the handmade fair went down a treat lots of Christmas decorations sold like hot cakes which was really exciting and ever since I have been making custom orders at home to send out to their new homes :)

Everywhere you go now it's really exciting, seeing the lovely white Christmas lights in the dark, the glistening of tinsel, Christmas Pudding and mince pies. My favourite spot for Christmas is the frankfurt German market in Birmingham. I go every year to indulge in some yummy food, crepes and feel the fresh winter breeze. It's official....Santa Claus is coming to town.

Hopefully in the coming new year there will be more exciting things to come for me. For now wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy new year!

Robots

I thought i would show you the flat designs that were generated from Photoshop for this project.

The project began from drawing and experimentation from hand and then developed further through manipulation on photoshop.

Night Owl

Ahhhh, just found this lovely little Etsy store named Night Owl. It's simply lovely and unique.

Profile: "Night Owl is an ecclectic gift and homewares shop run by Jessica Lennox. The name Night Owl originates from her nocturnal nature as most of the time she is found working through the night. She lives near Birmingham in the midlands where she spends her time searching for wood and second hand crockery. "

Open Night

Show opened tonight at 6pm, was wonderful and very busy. Great to see the atmosphere buzzing and business cards flying out the holders. Looking forward to what the future holds now.

My work displayed is featured on my 8 week woodland wonders project which includes the two printed lengths,

and some wall art canvas pieces

which focus's in on scenes between nature, animals and insects. I really wanted to create fun interesting yet odd scenario's between them and i have developed on these pieces using subtle hand stitch to emphasize and highlight certain aspects from the scenes.

Here are a selected few of the wall arts close ups.

You can also ask to see my portfolio which is on show grounds which feature work across the 3 years at University and also some sketch books.

Show is open for another week yet, so hop on down to the show and see everyone's amazing work :) Show closes on Saturday 18th 4pm. Show times are featured in the post before this.

Details are as follows. Everyone is welcome and there will be refreshments and drinks available.

Come see the show, there is a lot of amazing work on every course going on.

Assessments have been completed,
work mounted, but what will be featured i will leave as a surprise for now :)

and alas my business cards have arrived.

Mapping the world conclusion

Wow, it's been a long while since i've last updated, i have been busy finishing the last straws of university as well as completing the last world map prooject and squeezing in a card project too.

University has finally come to an end. We have had our assessments and the show is currently up waiting for external examiner on the following week.

The World map wall canvas project was a success.

I drew a lot of buildings and symbols based on each country. Inspired by illustrator artists with thin quirky line drawings, experimenting with ink drawings and collage. I mainly concertrated on the shapes of buildings and the patterns within.

I drew the map by hand and was able to re-scale the map through the photo copier to a nice wall canvas size and plotted colours to layout the map colours. I used heat transfer papers to get the right colour and through paper cutting the map out by hand.

Through my development of drawings i was able to place these into my hand drawn map for my final piece wall canvas. The drawings were worked on with photoshop and developed further. This is also hand-stitched and coloured with the heat transfer paper and layered with magic touch using heavy cotton fabric.
